Open Access

In an effort to respond to increasing community needs, Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Healthcare Services, Inc. (MPC) is pleased to offer Open Access for individuals seeking mental health services.

What is Open Access?

Open Access provides for same day scheduling and walk-in appointments for persons seeking immediate treatment for mental health care needs. As a function of Open Access, our mental health professionals will link consumers to other needed services within MPC, such as medication management, Crisis Stabilization services, or routine outpatient support.

Why Open Access?

Through offering same day scheduling/walk-in appointments, Mid-Plains Center intends to dramatically decrease an individual’s wait time for initial assessment, evaluation and treatment. Open Access allows MPC’s trained clinicians to address immediate concerns through the scheduling of same day appointments. The intended result is more timely care, enhanced accessibility, and ultimately increased satisfaction for those seeking services.

How to Access Services

Intake appointments for Open Access are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. In the event that an individual experiencing difficulty is unable to arrive during open access hours, he or she is welcome to call and schedule an appointment for a more convenient date and time.

Individuals are welcome to call Mid-Plains Center at (308) 385-5250 or come to the Outpatient Building located at 914 Baumann Dr., in Grand Island during open access hours. Please note that there may be times when an individual will not be able to access an appointment due to previously filled slots. In the event of such a situation, MPC staff will inform the individual of the ongoing open access schedule or refer them to the Crisis Stabilization Unit when appropriate. The individual needs to bring insurance cards and/or proof of income so we can accurately determine the source of payment.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mid-Plains Center with any questions, suggestions or concerns at (308) 385-5250. Mid-Plains Center is excited to offer Open Access in hopes that service providers, individuals, and the community will benefit from this new service.
