Psychiatric Technician
Assessment Responsibilities:
- Ensure that forms are properly and accurately completed.
- Ensure that the consumer has had ample opportunity to provide all information necessary to produce an accurate and complete assessment according to CQI standards.
- Complete a thorough and accurate risk assessment to determine appropriate level of care for consumers.
- Consult with Registered Nurse, Physician, Physician Extender, Program Supervisor, or designee for appropriate referrals.
- Assist consumers in connecting with appropriate resources to meet his/her immediate needs.
- Ensure that the consumer has had ample opportunity to participate in the formation of the treatment plan.
- Write the treatment plan according to industry standards, incorporating feedback from the consumer and the peer review process.
- Review and update the treatment plan and document the review process in accordance with program policy and COA standards.
Service Responsibilities:
- Monitor consumers to ensure safety and well-being.
- Assist consumers in identifying and referring to the appropriate level of services.
- Coordinate services with other Mid-Plains Center programs to facilitate integration of eventual outpatient care and services within the continuum of services.
- Perform a wide variety of duties: assist and supervise vital signs, individual and group activities, activities of daily living, etc., under the supervision of Registered Nurse, Physician, Physician Extender, Supervisor, or designee.
- Encourage and work with consumers to meet treatment goals.
- Schedule outpatient follow up appointments for consumers.
- Provide clinical information to Registered Nurse, Physician, Physician Extender, Supervisor, or designee as needed.
- Maintain professional boundaries with all consumers.
- Maintain clean environment through regularly scheduled cleaning activities provided by Supervisor.
- Follow-up on all referrals received to ensure that consumers receive appropriate and timely services and continuously improving quality of services to ensure consumer retention.
- Ensure that risk assessment documentation, consumer progress notes, staffing summaries, consumer treatment plans, and discharge documentation are completed accurately and timely.
- Develop and foster a working relationship with referral sources, including, but not limited to: Healthcare professionals, law enforcement and judicial officers, mental health professionals, and social services agencies and personnel.
- Complete regular reviews of consumer charts and treatment plans and documenting such reviews according to Center policy.

Qualifications
- Former or current consumer of behavioral health services which have led towards recovery from mental illness, substance abuse, and/or problem gambling. High school diploma or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Two years of demonstrated consumer advocacy experience.
- Experience in behavioral health consumer advocacy and developing and monitoring projects or plans; i.e., consumer-run direct service or projects. Also, familiarity of specialized services and resources available to persons who experience major mental illnesses and substance abuse/dependence (behavioral health services, housing options, vocational rehabilitation, entitlements, Medicaid, Social Security, etc.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken). Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish is desired.
